God
created human beings in His own image and for a purpose
(Gen. 1:26-28). After their creation, everything
went well for our first parents until they chose
to
disobey the one who created them, obeying the devil instead (Gen. 3:1-7). No
sooner had they fallen than God announced the redemption of mankind (Gen. 3:15).
This has been His core work ever since.
At the fulness of time, God sent
His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, not only to
carry out His work of redemption but to finish it
(Gal. 4:4-5; Jn. 3:16; Rom.
5 : 8 ).
It is through faith in Jesus Christ
that we become children of God (Jn.1 : 12-13 ), have
everlasting life (Jn. 3:16), are reconciled to God
(2 Cor. 5:18-19),
and are at peace with Him ( Rom. 5 : 1-2).
God accredited this Jesus to be
the Saviour of all mankind (Acts 2 : 22) and is pleased
with Him ( Matt. 3:17). He has placed His seal of
approval on Jesus
(Jn. 6:27), in whom dwells all the fullness of the Deity (Col. 2 : 9). He gave
Jesus full authority to carry on the work of redemption ( Matt. 28 : 18-20
). He has given mankind no other Saviour than Him
(Acts 4:12; Jn. 14 : 6 ).
Jesus commissioned all His followers
to go to all the nations and make them His disciples,
thus beneficiaries of His redemption (Matt. 28 :
18-20 ). Therefore,
it is the God-given duty of all Christians to bring others all over the world
to receive God’s redemption, which is freely available in Jesus Christ.
To this end, every profession,
vocation, position, relationship, encounter, circumstance,
or issue is an opportunity for Christians to bring people to partake in this
gracious redemption. As Christians, our policies, decisions, words or deeds
must bring people to enjoy this redemption instead
of driving them far away from it.
It is when we Christians become
more and more like our Saviour Jesus Christ by living
in Him (Col. 2:6; Gal. 2:20; 1 Jn. 2 : 6), living
worthy of Him (Phil.
1:27), and obeying Him fully in all areas of our lives (Jn. 14:21,23-24; Matt.
28:19-20; 1 Jn. 2:3-5), that we can become most effective in bringing others
to partake in this redemption that He alone gives.
Thus, all of life is actually about
this redemption, whether partaking of it or living
it out in our lives daily, moment by moment or bringing
others to partake
of it and also live it out in their lives, daily, and moment by moment. |
